TEMPLATE SETUP GUIDE

Set up your site with confidence.

This guide shows you what to replace first, where to update shared content, and what to check before launch. Keep the existing structure and shared styles intact; update the template’s content and settings in a clear order.

01 — Getting Started

Work through the setup in this order. The template is designed for a craftsmanship and commissioning business, but its existing structure can also support furniture makers, ceramics studios, metalworkers, upholsterers, leatherworkers, stonemasons, restorers, and independent artisan studios.

1. Replace brand information • 2. Configure shared styles • 3. Update navigation and contact details • 4. Edit services • 5. Add project categories • 6. Add projects • 7. Add Journal content • 8. Replace reviews • 9. Configure the enquiry form • 10. Update SEO and social metadata • 11. Review responsive layouts • 12. Publish

Where to edit what

Site-wide brand and contact details: shared navigation and footer. Page-specific copy and images: the relevant page canvas. Services, Projects, Project Categories, and Journal articles: their existing CMS collections. Colors and typography: the existing shared Color Styles and Text Styles. SEO: page settings and the SEO fields already provided in Projects and Blog.

02 — Brand & Site Information

Replace the demonstration business name, logo, contact details, email, phone, address or location, social links, and footer information. Use your own details wherever the template currently shows example content; do not leave demonstration information in public-facing areas.

03 — Colors & Typography

Update shared styles first.

The template uses reusable Text Styles and Color Styles. Update the existing shared styles rather than manually changing individual elements. This preserves visual consistency and avoids unnecessary local overrides.

04 — Navigation

Review the main navigation, primary enquiry call to action, footer navigation, and each destination. The existing “Request a Quote” route should point to your enquiry or contact destination. Keep the existing navigation structure unless your business genuinely needs different destinations.

05 — Services CMS

Edit the existing Services collection to replace example services, descriptions, images, icons, and summary information. Add a service only where the current CMS supports it. Check each service page’s call to action and confirm the destination is relevant. The current collection does not include dedicated service SEO fields, so review any page-level metadata available in the editor.

06 — Projects CMS

Replace demonstration projects or add new ones in the existing Projects collection. Add primary and secondary imagery, select project categories, complete the project overview and project information, and connect the relevant category. The existing fields include Material Character, Making Technique, Primary Material, Supporting Materials, Finish / Treatment, Lead Time, and Care / Maintenance. The carpentry examples are demonstration content: adapt the wording for your own craft without rebuilding the collection. Complete each project’s SEO title and description.

07 — Project Categories

Replace the demonstration categories in the existing Project Categories collection with categories that suit your practice. Examples might include Furniture, Restoration, Ceramics, Metalwork, Upholstery, or Sculpture; these are examples only. Update the category name and image, then assign the category to the appropriate projects.

08 — Journal / Blog CMS

Use the existing Blog collection to replace demonstration Journal content with useful information for your own craft and customers. Add article titles, featured images, publication dates, article content, author names, and SEO titles and descriptions. The current collection does not include categories, reading time, related posts, or author relationships, so do not imply those features without adding them yourself. Keep the existing dynamic article metadata structure.

09 — Reviews & Trust Content

Replace the demonstration reviews, testimonials, ratings, review-platform links, and trust claims wherever they appear on the site. Publish only genuine testimonials, ratings, experience claims, certifications, memberships, and guarantees. Do not invent customer names, credentials, or social proof.

10 — Enquiry Form

Check the existing enquiry form’s Name, Email, Phone Number, Service, Project Description, Project Location, Approximate Budget, Desired Timeline, and Preferred Contact Method fields. The current form does not show a reference upload field, so do not promise one without adding it. Before publishing, verify the form’s submission destination or integration in your own setup and send a test enquiry.

11 — SEO & Social Metadata

Replace demonstration homepage and page-specific SEO titles and descriptions with information specific to your business. Update project and Journal metadata in their existing CMS fields, and update social/OG images where supported. Preserve the dynamic metadata structure on CMS detail pages rather than replacing it with static copy.

12 — Content & Image Preparation

Prepare your final copy and imagery before replacing the demonstration content. Keep names, service descriptions, project details, and calls to action consistent across the site. Use clear, appropriately sized images, keep similar image roles in consistent proportions, and add accurate alternative text wherever the editor provides it. Check every crop on desktop, tablet, and phone before publishing.

13 — Accessibility & Clarity

Use descriptive headings, meaningful link labels, readable sentences, and accurate image descriptions. Avoid vague calls to action when the destination is not obvious. Review color changes for readable contrast, confirm important information is not communicated by color alone, and check that forms remain understandable without placeholder text.

14 — Safe Editing Practices

Work with the template’s existing pages, components, collections, fields, and shared styles. Replace content before changing structure. Avoid deleting or renaming CMS fields that are already connected to pages, and do not duplicate collections to create slightly different content. After each group of edits, preview the affected page and its CMS detail pages before moving on.

15 — Quality Assurance & Handoff

Review the site as a visitor, not only in the editor. Open every navigation item, call to action, CMS detail page, social link, email link, and phone link. Test the enquiry form with a real submission and confirm where it arrives. Check long titles, missing images, empty collection states, and newly added CMS items. If another person will maintain the site, show them which content belongs on the canvas, in shared styles, and in each CMS collection.
