Made to create a commanding spatial presence through symmetry, light and the suggestion of flight.
01 — Story
Purpose, material, and presence.
We began with a study of bilateral balance and then used layered maple elements to build weight around a narrow centre. Cut-outs were treated as active material, allowing light and shadow to complete the wing-like form.

With a little attention, the surface will continue to deepen gracefully over time.
Dust with a soft dry cloth and wipe spills promptly with a lightly damp cloth, then dry the surface. Avoid abrasives, standing water and prolonged direct heat. Refresh the oil finish when the timber begins to look dry; seek professional care for deeper marks or repairs.
