Purpose, material, and presence.
We constructed the piece as a sequence of nested pointed arches rather than a solid mass. Repetition creates the structure, while the changing depth of each frame produces shifting views as the viewer moves around it.

Care / Maintenance
With a little attention, the surface will continue to deepen gracefully over time.
Dust with a soft dry cloth and wipe spills promptly with a lightly damp cloth, then dry the surface. Avoid abrasives, standing water and prolonged direct heat. Refresh the oil finish when the timber begins to look dry; seek professional care for deeper marks or repairs.
